Press Release Summary = Since 1979, the Birla Institute of Technology and Science
(BITS), Pilani has been participating in the human resources development activities
of the industries through several degree programmes by integrating the working
environment of the employees with the learning environment required by the
Institute. Work-integrated learning and e-learning at BITS Pilani are not just
treated as philosophies and technologies but also as pedagogical drivers.

Press Release Body = Dr. Reddy\'s Laboratories Ltd (DRL) which has recently signed on
as the first participant in United States Pharmacopoeia\'s (USP) Pharmaceutical
Ingredient Verification Programme is a global, vertically integrated pharmaceutical
company with a presence across the value chain, producing and delivering safe,
innovative, and high quality finished dosage forms, active pharmaceutical
ingredients and biological products, which are marketed to over 100 countries
including US, Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, India and China. DRL conducts NCE drug
discovery research in the areas of metabolic disorders, cardiovascular indications
and infectious diseases as well as Custom Pharmaceutical services (CPS). Its drug
discovery effort is carried out at its research facilities in Atlanta, USA, and in
Hyderabad, India.

On 19th August 2000, BITS Pilani and Dr Reddy\'s Laboratories Ltd Hyderabad entered
into a Memorandum of Understanding with the objective of fostering collaboration
between the two institutions for promoting educational and research activities in
the areas of Chemistry, Pharmacy and Biotechnology. Under this collaboration, DRL
sponsors its employees with BSc qualification to undergo a 3 year MSc (Tech)
Pharmaceutical Chemistry Program and with BPharm qualification to undergo a 2 year
MS Pharmaceutical Operations and Management Program. The Work Integrated Learning
focused curriculum is customized to meet the HRD needs of Dr Reddy\'s Lab. As of
December 2006, 129 employees from DRL have successfully completed the MSc (Tech)
Program and 17 employees the MS Program.

On April 24, 2007, 31 employees who have completed the MSc(Tech) Program in February
2007, were awarded the certificates in a colourful function graced by Dr LK
Maheshwari the Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani and Dr Anji Reddy Chairman of DRL at
Hotel Taj Residency, Visakapatnam.
