Press Release Summary: The question on everybody’s mind this year has been whether
the U.S. will go into a recession. Many signs seem to point that way due to the

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 15, 2008
The question on everybody’s mind this year has been whether the U.S. will go into a
recession. Many signs seem to point that way due to the U.S. dollar losing ground
to the Euro and the price of gold futures rising to over $900. The price of homes
have been dropping from 20% to 25% and the Feds who so far have cut down interests
rates by 2.5% late in the year are all pointing towards the economy getting ready
to enter a recession.
Oddly enough, most sports bettors do not seem to think so because at LazerWager the
size of the bets people have been placing has increased rather than decreased this
past December which is a historical sign that sports bettors are not worried about
the economy.
“We had placed an odds line on whether the US would enter into a recession by July
2008, “said Nina Pendleton spokesperson for LazerWager, “and we had to move the line
3 times because most bettors are placing their money on the U.S. not entering into
a recession in 2008.”
“Presently we are no longer taking bets on the recession which was last at:
Will the US Enter a Recession by November 1, 2008?
NO -160
YES +130

Continued Ms. Pendleton. “We are waiting until next week’s data and earnings
release which our lines makers say will drastically change the betting line before
we decide to take more action on it.”
The general consensus seems to be that the Feds will cut down the interests rates
again by half a point combined with the current escalation with Iran, the strong
global growth, the sudden drop in oil prices and the European Commission possibly
cutting its growth forecast for the Euro will be enough to keep the US from entering
a recession in 2008.
